Meet Virtual Assistant Mary Lou Ferro
Okay, let’s get started on the interview!
Tell us who you are in 50 words or less.
Hi! My name is Mary Lou Ferro, founder of Maven Virtual Assistant Solutions (MVAS).
I help overwhelmed business owners and solopreneurs efficiently run their business by managing their day-to-day administrative tasks.
How and why did you start your business?
I started MVAS because of my desire to be in control of my finances, time, and freedom to do the things I want when I want.
Administrative work can be daunting for some people especially when running your own business. My goal is to use my 30+ years of administrative expertise to relieve business owners of their administrative tasks so they have more time to focus on running and growing their business.
What services do you offer in your business?
My services include: travel arrangements, calendar management, scheduling, invoicing, gift buying, cloud-based e-file setup and maintenance, Zoom call setup, proofreading and light copy editing, event planning, stationery design, formatting and uploading of posts to your blog and social media accounts, research and ad-hoc projects.
What makes your business or services unique?
After getting to know my clients, I become quite intuitive of their business flow and needs.
Having a functional website is an important aspect of running a business. How was the process for you to get your website up and running? For example: Did you create it on your own or did you hire a web designer? Which platform is your website hosted on?
I built my own website on WordPress using the Divi editor. I found the process quite easy and enjoyed it.
What resources are you finding helpful in your business right now?
Networking groups, one-on-one Zoom chats, and LinkedIn have been super helpful for me.
I also have a business mentor that has opened my eyes to so many things I never even thought about when running a business.
THE SCORE WEBSITE HAS A TON OF FREE RESOURCES AND IT’S WHERE I FOUND MY MENTOR.
How have you grown personally from becoming an entrepreneur?
I have gained new respect for being disciplined and doing the work - even when you’re tired.
What advice would you give to someone who is thinking about starting their own business?
Take your time. There is so much information out there.
IT’S GOOD TO HAVE GUIDANCE AND ADVICE FROM OTHERS, BUT ULTIMATELY FOLLOW YOUR HEART AND INTUITION TO BUILD YOUR BUSINESS YOUR WAY.
What are some fun facts you would like to share about yourself?
Beach days are my favorite days.
I am a Reiki practitioner.
What is one thing you’re grateful for right now?
I am grateful for where I am right now, this exact point of my journey.
What are you looking forward to in the next month?
I am looking forward to taking on another client.
