“Smoke was filling the library and fire alarms are now going off, and I remember I could see the exit and entrance of the library very clearly, even though it was somewhat far. I looked over and I saw these two figures enter the library, holding guns. The first thing that they said was, ‘Everybody get ready to die.’ And they just began shooting.
That’s when I just could feel my body just shake. And it’s a very out of body experience when you go through something like this, where you’re placed in a moment of absolute survival. It’s almost like your body prepares itself for death in a lot of ways.
I saw my family, my friends, almost like a flip book. As I was sitting under my table, I saw my dog. I thought about the dreams that I had for myself that I wondered if I would ever realize. I began to just almost mentally prepare for it to be my last moments because I kept hearing my fellow students die.”
