The Mindset Shift That Transformed My Life | With Nick Klingensmith

I can’t tell you that I’m grateful for cancer, but I’m kind of grateful for cancer.

I wish that I much rather not be diabetic, but that’s why I got to write a book. I have a purpose now and that’s just the cost of doing business. It’s what I had to go through, and the thing is this too, life doesn’t discriminate. I’ve been getting a little bit of a reprieve from that type of stuff for a while.

Something else is going to happen. These seasons come and go and I’m mentally prepared for it. First of all, because I know it’s going to happen. I’m not afraid of it. I accept that bad things will happen. I don’t have to resist it. When it does, I can save myself some time and anguish by saying ‘No, don’t hurt me’ when it comes.

Instead, I’ll just be like, ‘Wow, we’re facing this issue now. Okay. Let’s break it down. What do we do? What does it look like? What’s our goal? How do we get through it? What do we need to do to get through it? Let’s go.’ And that’s kind of how I treat everything now.

Because of that, I’m able to offer some of that same perspective to others too when they’re in that situation because I can break it down logically.
