Meet Financial Coach Julianne Miller

“I needed to learn who I was and who I want to become. I’m still learning and always will be.”

Julianne Miller

Okay, let’s get started on the interview!

Tell us who you are in 50 words or less.

My name is Julianne Miller and I’m a Christian, wife, mother and financial coach who loves helping other women feel confident with money!

How and why did you start your business?

I started my business when someone walked into our office and had no idea how to pay her bills. It was then that I realized not everyone knows how to manage money, and that I wanted to be the person to help them.

What services do you offer in your business?

I offer financial coaching to women over 40 who never learned how to budget yet somehow manage to pay the bills every month. They need a better plan to get out of the feeling of never having money and growing toward their goals.

I also offer Daily Money Management for those small businesses who have no time to handle their own personal bills.

What makes your business or services unique?

I’m able to offer both sides of the coin, so to speak.

I HELP WOMEN MANAGE THEIR PERSONAL FINANCES; EITHER BY COACHING THEM ON HOW TO DO IT, OR HANDLING IT FOR THEM WHEN THEY DON’T HAVE THE TIME.

The financial health of my clients is my top priority.

Having a functional website is an important aspect of running a business. How was the process for you to get your website up and running? For example: Did you create it on your own or did you hire a web designer? Which platform is your website hosted on?

It can be overwhelming to work with someone for the first time on your website when you do not know what you are doing. I didn’t feel completely in control, and it was difficult to make changes.

My experience isn't common and I learned that regardless of whether you do it yourself or have someone do it, it is important to understand that it is not just a page telling people about you and your services. You need to talk about your ideal clients, you need to understand SEO, and you need it to represent who you truly are.

What resources are you finding helpful in your business right now?

I utilize quite a few resources in my business:

  • Financial Coach mastermind for business growth

  • Industry education for continued financial knowledge

  • Software for clients: Quickbooks, Google products (gmail, drive, calendar), Calendly,

  • Internal software: Asana, Notion, Trello, Notes

My passion is helping women feel empowered through their finances.

What is the one thing you wished you had known before starting your entrepreneurial journey?

To pay attention to my mentors and implement their recommendations; I wasted too much time thinking their advice didn’t apply to me.

Tell us about a time when life threw you a serious curveball in your business and what you did to overcome that curveball?

Three times now I’ve had major interruptions in my business: COVID, the loss of my mother, the caregiving and eventual loss of my father all within three years.

I learned how to delegate very quickly. I learned how to start putting systems in place that others could follow. I learned where my gaps were in the business if I wasn’t here and where I needed to improve; and I learned how precious this life is and I would do it all over again to spend that time with family.

How have you grown personally from becoming an entrepreneur?

I’ve challenged myself at every level. I suffer from perfectionism, lack of self-confidence, hitting my upper limits, and so much more.

I NEEDED TO LEARN WHO I WAS AND WHO I WANT TO BECOME. I’M STILL LEARNING AND ALWAYS WILL BE.

What one misconception about the entrepreneurial journey would you like to clarify for us today?

That you can do whatever you want and take off all the time you like. While there is some truth to that, there is so much more behind the scenes that needs to happen before that can come true.

What advice would you give to someone who is thinking about starting their own business?

(Financial coach here lol)

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ONE YEAR’S WORTH OF SALARY SAVED BEFORE YOU START, SERIOUSLY!

What are some fun facts you would like to share about yourself?

During COVID, I fell in love with bird watching and drawing; I once ran away in grade school and got caught by the bus driver; and I was the “shortest kid in trombone” in the award winning Lake Lehman High School Marching band!

What is one thing you’re grateful for right now?

Faith and family; it doesn’t get any simpler than that.

What are you looking forward to in the next month?

A mini vacation; and personal growth in the business.
